Parking
Kingston has plenty of parking if you know where to look. There is a text-to-pay waterfront Port lot. There are several monthly pass commuter lots within a block of ferry. There is a free row with a 2-hour limit in the Port lot, and it is strictly enforced. There are two rows of 2-hour free parking alongside the waterfront Kiwanis park. Most residential streets within 2 blocks of ferry have 2 hour limits but beyond that, most have no limit at all. There are also two free park-and-ride lots, where you leave the car and take a bus or walk to the ferry. The map below shows all of them. Each spot is colored by its parking type, and tells you who owns it, how to pay, and how long you can stay.

George's Corner Park & Ride

Kitsap Transit lot at 27618 Hansville Rd NE: free, paved, lit, with a shelter, bike racks/lockers and 4 free EV chargers. Kitsap Transit's posted rule: park & rides are intended for day use and parking is limited to no more than 24 hours — so it works for a day trip, but not for multi-day ferry parking. Routes 307 (Kingston/North Viking Fast Ferry Express) and 391 (Kingston/Bainbridge) connect to the dock.
Bayside Community Church Park & Ride

Church lot at 25992 Barber Cut Off Rd NE shared as an official Kitsap Transit park & ride — the only church lot in Kingston with a documented ferry-commuter arrangement. Free, paved, lit; same Kitsap Transit rule: day use, no more than 24 hours. Served by Routes 302 and 391.
Before you park for the ferry
The line of cars on SR 104 is the ferry queue — not parking
People mix these two things up all the time. If you are driving onto the boat, do not park. You join the line of cars on SR 104 instead.
In the busy season, from 8 am to 8 pm, watch for the flashing sign at Barber Cutoff Rd. Follow that lane. Take a boarding pass from the machine near Lindvog Rd. Then wait for a green light before you drive up to the toll booths.
Only dropping someone off or picking them up? Do not join the line. Stay in the right lane and turn right at Washington St, before the toll booths.
Leaving your car and walking onto the boat? Use a Port lot or a Diamond lot. Do not use the free 2-hour spaces — the Port asks ferry riders to stay out of those.
Overnight parking, honestly
The short version: one lot clearly allows it, one probably does, and everything else is a day-use situation.
Diamond lot D515 — yes. The only option that plainly allows overnight and multi-day parking: $12 covers 12–24 hours, with published rates out to 7 days ($38). One block from the tollbooths.
Port numbered spaces — call first. The Port charges in 12-hour blocks. Its rules do not say you can leave a car overnight, and they do not say you cannot. Nobody knows for sure. So call the Port office first, at 360-297-3545, before you leave a car there overnight. Two things are certain: no RV parking on Port property, and no camping.
Park & rides — 24 hours max. George's Corner and Bayside are free but intended for day use; Kitsap Transit caps them at 24 hours. One night squeaks by; a weekend does not.
Streets — legal where there is no sign, with a catch. Kingston is not its own city, and Kitsap County has no county-wide overnight parking ban. A street only has rules if a sign says so. But state law lets the county act on a car left on a public street for a long time: it can put a tag on the car, call it abandoned, and tow it 24 hours later. (The law is Washington state code RCW 46.55.085.) So one night on Georgia Ave or Pennsylvania Ave is fine. Leaving a car for several days is not. The downtown 2-hour signs do not list their hours anywhere online, so do not assume a 2-hour space is free at night. Read the sign.
Parking on the Edmonds side
Leave the car in Edmonds and walk onto the boat. You skip the car line, and there is always room on foot. Here is where a car can actually stay over there — and where it gets towed.
A walk-on ticket is $11.35 and covers the whole round trip. You pay it once, in Edmonds — the boat home from Kingston is free.
U-Park lot — Sunset Ave S & James St
The one real all-day lot near the dock, about a 2-minute walk from the terminal: 64 spaces, including 2 spaces that are free with a disabled parking placard. WSDOT lists the rate as $15–$20 — verify the posted rate at the pay station before you leave the car. Staying overnight or longer? Call U-Park first at (206) 284-9797.
Signed streets & Brackett's Landing
Most signed streets near the dock allow 3 hours, and the clock only runs from midnight to 6 pm, except Sundays and holidays. After 6 pm, and all day Sunday, the limit lapses on most streets — an evening or Sunday trip can usually park free. Brackett's Landing, the beach lot beside the terminal, allows 4 hours. Good for a quick out-and-back, not for a day trip. The sign on the pole is always the rule.
Do not park here for the ferry
These places sit right by the terminal and look convenient. You risk towing or a warning on the windshield — a ferry rider is not their customer.
- Salish Crossing (170–190 Sunset Ave). The shopping center is for its own customers only and tows and boots actively. The old commuter-parking arrangement there ended in 2023. My Edmonds News, March 2026 →

- Port of Edmonds marina lots. For people using the marina or Port facilities only. Guest spaces allow 3 hours. Port of Edmonds parking rules →
- Edmonds Station lot (211 Railroad Ave). The free Sound Transit lot is for transit passengers only, 24 hours max — walking onto the ferry does not count, even when the lot sits half empty. Cars parked there for anything else can be impounded. Sound Transit's parking rules →
- The ferry terminal itself. The Edmonds ferry terminal itself has no parking lot — the lots are all a few blocks away. WSDOT's Edmonds terminal page →
Community Transit Edmonds Park & Ride
Skip Edmonds parking entirely: leave the car at Community Transit's free Edmonds Park & Ride and ride the bus in. Routes 102, 130, 166 and 909 connect directly to the ferry terminal. Community Transit itself recommends the bus, because parking near the terminal is limited.
Leaving a car for several days? Edmonds has no verified option
As of July 2026 we can find no published option for leaving a car near the Edmonds terminal for more than about a day, so rather than guess, we say so plainly. For a multi-day trip: have someone drop you off, come by bus or train, or call U-Park at (206) 284-9797 and ask before you count on their lot.
